Students on Ice Antarctic Expedition
Journey from the southernmost city in the world, at the tip of South
America, into the heart of the Antarctic Peninsula.
Experience Antarctica during the austral summer, a time when it is
exploding with wildlife including penguins, seals, seabirds and
whales.
Participate in hands-on research conducted by a team of
international and world-class scientists.
Navigate between icebergs on an ice-rated expedition vessel
specially designed for the safety and comfort of its passengers, your
home for the expedition.
Explore the most remote shores of Antarctica using Zodiac boats, the
most practical boats of their kind in the world, designed by Jacques
Cousteau.
Visit an international research station on the one continent that
has no official form of government.
Become one of only a handful of young people ever to experience the
Antarctic continent.

opportunity with other People to People Student Ambassador alumni.
The details This elite program is designed to build leadership skills and to
give you a truly unique view of the world. Get set for a great adventure
designed to challenge individuals to think and gain new insights into
our planet.
Age range – Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18 by
the departure date. Program dates – The delegation will convene at the international
gateway airport in the United States on December 18, and return to the
gateway airport on December 31, 2006. The international gateway airport
will be announced once air schedules are released from the airlines (no
later than February 1, 2006). Academic credit – As on your previous Ambassador Programs, you
can earn high school credit for your participation through the
Washington School of World Studies. Cost for this credit is included in
your tuition. Website – An expedition website will allow families back home to
follow their student’s journey through Antarctica each day.
